Sip&Spin Coffee & Records, located in the historic Roark building, is a place to relax and enjoy a specialty coffee drink and a fresh-baked pastry. On this site was the first undertaking business in Muhlenberg County operated by James Louis Roark, beginning in 1879. His son, Orien L. Roark was a second-generation undertaker and embalmer and built the current building in 1893. The Roark building is the third oldest commercial building in the county. Orien sold unique items and was the first to sell Victrola record players and records in Muhlenberg County. He also printed a newspaper, “The Record” for over twenty years on the top floor of the building. Today, Sip&Spin displays many of the historical pieces from the Roark era as well as items from Muhlenberg County’s past. Reflecting upon the Roark tradition, Sip&Spin is a dealer in new and used vinyl records and record players. A working, 19th century Candler & Price printing press will soon be on display in the front window. Regular events including live music and historic tours are on the schedule for great times at Sip&Spin, a growing cultural center of Greenville and Muhlenberg County.
