The Greenville Tourism Commission is extremely pleased to announce plans to establish the first-ever official “Greenville Visitors & Welcome Center”. The Center will make its debut in the heart of historic downtown Greenville, Kentucky.  This new venue will be situated at 125 S. Main Street. The new Center is slated to be unveiled in late spring of this year. Upon completion of the Center, the public will be hosted for a Grand Opening event with an open house for tours and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Greenville Visitors & Welcome Center will provide guests to Greenville, along with local friends and neighbors, a unique and nostalgic venue to learn more about the town, its destination sight-seeing opportunities, the experiences to be had and the events available to enjoy.  It will serve as a welcome mat to guests who need general information for self-guided explorations and will also provide a warm and informative opportunity for guided tours.  Items of historical significance will be displayed, along with other compelling graphic images and artifacts that tell Greenville’s stories from the past, showcase its treasures of today, and give glimpses into its future.

Visitors to The Center will enjoy retail therapy with the installation of The Towne Shop at Greenville Visitors & Welcome Center”. In partnership with the downtown merchants, The Towne Shop will be merchandised with Greenville and Kentucky branded items. Gift items, souvenirs, novelties for all ages, all boasting the Greenville, KY brand, will be ready to sell, with gift wrapping services available.

The Greenville Tourism Commission administrative offices, previously located at 112 N. Main Street, will be relocated to the new Center. “Travel resources and local/regional brochures will be available on site. We take pride in our historic downtown and we look forward to reflecting that in the new Visitors & Welcome Center,” states GTC director, Colbi Ferguson.

“The GTC remains committed to the scope of our mission to develop and promote Greenville, KY as a destination location to tourists and travelers.  Expanding our services to include an official visitors welcome center will enhance our guest experience and further brand our city as a cultural, recreational, relaxing, and entertaining place to be.  This center is only one part of a multi-phase initiative that is underway to continue our revitalization and tourism efforts, with an emphasis on historic downtown Greenville.  We will be making announcements of the additional enhancements to downtown later this spring”, says Jamie Wells, co-chair of the Greenville Tourism Commission.

To make this Center a multi-purpose location, that is available for use by local businesses and organizations, a Community Conference Room is being included in the design plan. The room will be made available, via reservation, for business or civic related meetings and presentations. There will be no cost for the use of the room.

The location of the new Center is strategically in the heart of downtown where GTC’s signature events that currently include “Saturdays on the Square” and “Squash & Gobble Fall Festival and Arts Bazaar” take place. According to Ferguson “During our major events, the Greenville Visitors & Welcome Center will be open to the public to provide an inviting and informative space for those in attendance. GTC Commissioners and volunteers will man the Center during events to assist visitors with information, local itineraries and directions. We are excited to wrap up the construction improvements and get the Center open for business!”
