Event Details

The Muhlenberg County History Events (MCHE) group is excited to announce the 2018 Old Greenville Cemetery United States Colored Troops Stone Reveal Ceremony! In autumn of 2017, MCHE underwent a project to obtain 7 new grave markers for Civil War soldiers interred at the Old Greenville Cemetery in Greenville, Kentucky. We were able to procure these grave markers, and now these United States Colored Troops soldiers will have legible head stones. On April 28, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. MCHE will unveil these new stones. Poems and biographies about each soldier’s time in service will be read, a local historian will discuss Muhlenberg County’s role in the Civil War, wreaths will be laid, and Civil War reenactors will be present to celebrate these soldiers’ service with us. So please come join us for a day we’ve set aside to honor these brave American veterans!

Soldier’s Honored: Henry Chatham, James Harrison, Morris Jernigan, Samuel Martin, Thornton Rumsey, Henry Short, and Perry Weir.

Rain Date: Sunday, April 29, 2018
