Greenville Tourism Commission announces venue change for the Oak Ridge Boys Concert

23Apr

Earlier this spring, the Greenville Tourism Commission invited music lovers to “Take the FREEway” to the 11th annual free summer concert series “Saturdays on the Square”.  Navigators are directing concert-goers to take a slight detour with the announcement of a venue change for the 2019 finale concert! To better accommodate the anticipated record-breaking attendance for the July 27th Oak Ridge Boys concert, the performance location has been moved from Main Street in historic downtown Greenville. The legendary group “The Oak Ridge Boys” will be preforming outdoors at the Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall. This venue is situated for a premier FREE concert experience.  Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall is located at 501 Robert L. Draper Way in Greenville, KY. The concert start time is unchanged and remains as 8pm Central Time.

The Oak Ridge Boys finale concert is one in a series of five free summer events that comprise the “Saturdays on the Square” 2019 season line-up. The four pre-finale events, which begin Saturday, June 29th, will all take place on the square in historic downtown Greenville, KY.  Only the finale Oak Ridge Boys concert is being relocated.

The “Twilight Cruise-In & Antique Car Show”, with live music by Roy Kyle and the Hot Rod Cruisers, is slated for June 29th from 6pm – 8pm on Veterans Plaza and along South Main Street in historic downtown Greenville.

On July 6th, at 8pm on South Main Street in downtown Greenville, Saturdays on the Square will welcome contemporary Christian artists, “Sidewalk Prophets”. Then, on July 13th, at 8pm on South Main Street in downtown Greenville, Nashville’s hottest party band, “12 South Band” will bring a high-energy and choreographed performance.

July 20th will introduce the first-ever “HWY 62 Bluegrass Festival” to historic downtown Greenville! This free event will begin at 6:30 pm and will include the music of Muhlenberg natives Zeke Walkers of “East to Nowhere”, and Derek Harris in the “Misty Mountain String Band”. “Dailey & Vincent”, national bluegrass sensations, will headline the festival!

Then, take the FREEway to the July 27th finale and experience the “Oak Ridge Boys” live in concert, at 8pm Central Time, outdoors at Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall!

Free parking for the Oak Ridge Boys concert will be located at the Muhlenberg County High School West Campus and at Ray Jones Athletic Complex.

“This summer, we are eager to host the finale concert of “Saturdays ON the Square” OFF the Square!”, says Colbi Ferguson, Greenville Tourism Director. “For certain, the audience will have exceptional seating options for the Oak Ridge Boys at this new venue.  Parking, security, and the overall concert experience will be better.”

Each event in the 2019 line-up will include a food court offering guests a variety of concert-friendly dining options. The local Greenville eateries will roll-out the red carpet, providing seated dining room experiences or on-the-go fast food choices. While in town, visitors can also enjoy shopping at unique boutiques and shops. Overnight accommodation, shopping and restaurant information is available at TourGreenville.com. Most concerts will include the performers’ merchandise tents that offer fans the opportunity to acquire concert memorabilia. Restroom facilities are provided. Event attendees should bring lawn chairs, with the ability to set-up chairs as early as 2pm on concert dates.

Given the concerts are hosted outdoors, weather can play a factor. Every effort will be made to produce the concerts outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, limited-seating alternative locations or cancellations will be communicated.
